The proposed study will investigate the mechanical characteristics of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite laminates reinforced with various nanoparticles (metallic and non-metallic) under different loadings such as tensile, bending, inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS), low velocity impact (LVI) and high velocity impact (HVI) resistance. Aluminum-based nanoparticles, graphene, and carbon nanotubes will be reinforced in glass and carbon woven based polymer composites. The fabrication of nano particles embedded composites will be done using hand layup technique assisted by vacuum bagging method. The effect of nanoparticle reinforcement in a specific reinforcement range will be studied to identify an optimum reinforcement value for maximal damage resistance properties under various loading conditions. Finite element analysis (FEA) will be performed on glass/epoxy polymer composite specimens using ANSIS and LS-DYNA to validate the experiment results.
